X3D-Earth Workshop

The X3D-Earth working group will be holding a workshop on the day before the Web 3D Symposium at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics, Darmstadt, Germany. The intended audience is current and future working group members, plus interested observers. The agenda of the workshop will include the review of current capabilities and recent changes from the March 2009 workshop. These capabilities include client support in the Xj3D, FreeWrl, and BS Contact Geo browsers and server-side content generation tools. Example implementations will be demonstrated. Current work items - namely removing the need for using GeoOrigin to achieve spatial positioning fidelity and adding the GeoTerrainLOD node to improve the browser’s ability to render terrain - will be reviewed and evaluated. We will discuss the working group’s progress, plans, participation, and priorities going forward. A key part of this discussion will involve the role (and advantages) of X3D for addressing customer’s needs for using geospatial data.

WG-11 & DICOM Meeting

In conjunction with the fourteenth annual ACM SIGGRAPH and Eurographics Web3D Symposium, DICOM WG-11 [Display Function Standard] will hold an all-day meeting at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics, Darmstadt, Germany. The X3D Medical working group of the Web3D Consortium will host the meeting to facilitate progress on recent and pending work items. The agenda includes a review of: Extended Presentation States (2D) draft Supplement 120, Med X3D specification review (TATRC), and the n-Dimensional Presentation States Work Item.
A whitepaper detailing the Med X3D Specification will be circulated to all DICOM group lists at least 30 days before the meeting. All members of the DICOM community and Web3D are welcome to attend, specifically, WG chairs who may represent use cases and requirements for the forthcoming n-dimensional presentation states specification.
